An 83 year old Japanese woman, who faces the reality of death every day because, well, she’s 83 years old, did the exact opposite of what most people would do when faced with impending doom: she peddled to safety. Kinda makes you look at your gut and wonder if you could do the same, doesn’t it?
An 83-year old woman who lived alone in the town of Ishinomaki, Japan, escaped the tsunami by fleeing on her bicycle.
When she heard about the tsunami warning, she did the first thing that came to mind and jumped on her bicycle. She prides herself on her health and fitness, she said.
Though she has two children, she was living alone at the time of the quake. Thankfully, she escaped. Her home has since been flooded and destroyed by last Friday’s events.
